Coconut Grove is just south of Downtown Miami and has many restaurants and open air cafes. By night, the Grove is transformed into a center of nightlife frequented by young professionals and students from the nearby University of Miami.

Shopping also brings people into Coconut Grove, with two large open-air malls, CocoWalk and the Streets of Mayfair. There are also many individual shops and boutiques.

Coconut Grove hosts a number of annual events, including the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the King Mango Strut, the Great Taste of the Grove Food & Wine Festival, and the Goombay Festival that transforms Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove into a Carnival celebrating the Bahamian culture.

Coconut Gove is also home to the Dinner Key Marina and to yacht and sailing clubs.
